An introduction to the Unified Modeling Language (UML), the modeling language used in the software development process. The presentation includes an introduction to the various UML models and diagrams, focusing on the one most widely recognized and used, the class diagram, as well as use case diagrams.

Note: This presentation is in the process of being updated to reflect the new UML Version 2.0.

Audience

Product managers, project managers, end users, analysts, designers, programmers, quality assurance and testing personnel.

Goals

Attendees will be able to read and understand the different UML models and diagrams and know the appropriate uses for each model in the systems development process.

After the session, you should be able to:

• recognize the 13 different diagrams in UML Version 2.0.
• read and understand the basics of all the diagrams.
• select and apply the most appropriate diagram that fits your purpose.
